The
2004 Rutz Cellars Sonoma Cuvée Pinot Noir is a wine that
represents all of the winemaking philosophy and flavor profile
that Rutz Cellars is know for, but is suitable for any palate
and right for any occasion. The grapes for the 2004 vintage were
harvested in late September and early October. All of the fruit
lots were hand-sorted, then underwent cold soaking for four
days, during which time the must was punched down by hand four
times a day, and given an extended maceration of four additional
days. After fermentation, the wine was aged in oak for eight
months. Preliminary blends were made in June, and the wine was
racked back to barrel for an additional two months of aging.
Final blends were completed in August just prior to bottling.Ruby
red in color. Aromas of floral herbs, fig and black cherry.
Herb-laced black cherry, currant, plum and raspberry flavors
that hold their focus on the finish.
