The
grapes for the 1997 came from several different locations within the
Dutton Ranch vineyard, known for consistently producing some of the
region’s finest fruit. Each site possesses a unique identity which
serves to add interest and complexity to the wine.
Hand-picked and whole-
cluster pressed, the must was cold-settled in tanks before being
transferred to primarily brand-new French oak barrels. 100% barrel-fermented sur-lie,
the wine was stirred to enhance mouth-feel and richness. Rich
and intense, the 1997 Dutton Ranch Chardonnay exhibits complex yet
subtle fruit flavors of pears and
orange blossom, coupled with power and extraordinary balance.
