The 1997
Buena Tierra Chardonnay was barrel fermented and aged for nine months in
two year old Claude Gillet barrels. The lees were stirred weekly with
one racking, from barrel to barrel, performed in late April. It was
lightly fined and filtered and then bottled in October, 1998. This wine
has the flavor to enjoy now, and has all the elements to justify aging.
It will evolve into a multi-dimensional, fleshy wine balanced by it’s
firm structure.
Complex aromas with notes of hazelnut, honeysuckle and mandarin
orange. The palate has a rich and oily feel with restrained toasted
vanilla oak and ripe yellow grapefruit flavors. The finish is long,
lingering and spicy. |
